12/4/2020 0 Comments Magazine extra workToday I decided to take another look at my table of contents and make some edits. I know that there is something about it that throws me off, but I can't figure it out. In the mean time I wrote extra possible articles that I could use. I decided that I will let my table of contents sit for while until after winter break before I mess with again. I might also wait until I finish my two page spread so that I can make them match.
In addition to this, today I took the time to see everything that Flipsnack has to offer so that I will be comfortable using it when I have to make my two page spread. I know that I want it to look as professional as possible, so I felt that getting accustom to it now before break is a good way to do this.

12/4/2020 0 Comments Media Ownership Candidate responseAs a society, we have created and divided multiple industries of media that we tend to separate in our minds. What most people aren't aware of is that the separate industries, for example music, print, and film, are all own by a set number of conglomerates. These superpowers that run all of our media have many issues tied in with them.
One major issue with this method of media ownership is that there is an incredible amount of bias in the media that is being fed to consumers. Because many news outlets are owned by the same company, they put out information that will benefit their other stations, magazines, and newspapers. This doesn't necessarily mean that the information is wrong, however it does mean that it may be manipulating the reader/listener into thinking a certain way. Another issue is that it can create unfair advantages for certain stars who are related to one sub part of the media ownership. For example, Miley Cyrus was a star on Disney Channel before anything else. This in turn allowed her to have an easy access to Disney music and everything else that she has done in her career. While this benefits her (the artist) it can make it extremely difficult for other smaller artists and actors to try to get into the industry. Lastly, if one part of the conglomerate fails, so does the rest of it. Because everything is linked in this type of system, that means that funding, advertising and more is spent within the company on the same service. If that specific movie, tv show, song/album, etc. fails, then all the other parts do too because of this funding they spent on it. In the end, although this method of media ownership provides many benefits for the consumer and the companies involved, there are an abundance of issues that tie along with it. Even if the world wanted to change this monopolization of media in the world, it would be almost impossible to do that now. |
